1st few days home

We made it home from the hospital on Thursday around 2pm. The first few nights at the hospital were mixed. He was up and down, but the nurses were there to help. We get home Thursday and he was sleeping ok for most of the day. Then around about 5pm, he just won't go back to sleep. Crying like crazy, trying to do what we can to keep him calm. We'd feed him, still won't go to sleep, continued to cry. So Lisa calls the Dr about 5am. they walk us through some stuff including taking a temp rectally. :) poor guy.. it comes up 96 degrees, which is not good for a newborn. So they say, come in to the ER room to get him checked out. Once he gets there, he's sound asleep, temp is perfect. ER doctors said he's perfectly healthy newborn. That would be a over reaction on our part. :) Then aside from slipping on some oil in the parking garage, Ethan was safe in his car seat and was not hurt in anyway thankfully (my knee on the other hand is still hurting)

Lisa on the other hand was not doing to well either. She was in pain, had some swelling in her legs and was feeling some anxiety. She called her doctor, and they said to come in and get checked out in case of any blood clots. She gets checked out and is ok as well. So a couple ER visits, and all is ok after everything is said and done.

Saturday, he slept a little better, but still was up quite a bit.. in the afternoon, we had Bill, Brett, Shirley and Sara visit and meet the little guy. he slept through most of it. then later that night, We had Rachel, Kevin, Uncle Kissy and Aunt Martha, Paige and Bill (Lisa's dad) over for dinner. He was up more for them, but is now starting to settle into a 3 hour sleep, eat cycle. Hopefully we'll keep it that way for a little while. Last night we finally got more sleep. Both Lisa and I are starting to get away from checking on him every 2 minutes.. :) again new nervous parents. Both of us got some sleep, still sleep deprived, but it's getting better. Monday the little guy has his first appt with his new pediatrician. Hopefully everything goes good with that.

WELCOME ETHAN!!!!

Mom and Baby are doing great. Lisa had to have a C Section due to a complication with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. Ethan's heartbeat wasn't responding well when she would have a contraction and there was just too much risk to try the normal route so she decided to go ahead and got him out with minimal stress and danger. It's very late and obviously I haven't had much rest. So since I'm sure nobody is even reading this part of the post and is just looking at the photos.. here they are.

And we wait....

Today is the "Due Date" for Ethan. Just got back from the doctor. Lisa is over 90% effaced and 1 1/2 dilated. The Doctor said her body is ready to go. We'll hold out for one more week and if he doesn't come on his own by next Thursday, Friday 1/21 they will induce him. So we wait.. Lisa is having lots of the Braxton Hix contractions, only a few are painful. she's a little nauseous and is just plain ready for the pregnancy to be over. :) So we know at least it's one more week max. we've lasted 9 months, guess we can wait one more week.

Any day...

Lisa just came back from her latest Dr's appt. She is 90% effaced and 1cm dilated. what does that all mean?? It means she'll have the baby in the next two weeks. duh.. :) Doctor said he is a normal sized baby, not to big, not to small. He continues to kick and move. Lisa is still having braxton hix contractions, a few have been painful.. but nothing to make us think we need to go to the hospital. Dr said we'll know when it's time. :) That's about it. Just sit and wait it out now.. I'm ready. Bring on the dirty diapers. :) I'll update again as soon as something happens. :)
