Baby Watch..

Lisa had her latest appointment yesterday. Nothing to report really. Ethan's heartbeat is 131 and he's getting bigger and bigger each day. Doctor said he's safe to come anytime after Christmas Eve. So now it's up to the little guy when he's good and ready to leave hotel mom.

Since we are now on "baby watch" I was scheduled to go to New Orleans for our final regular season game. Since it's so close and can happen really at anytime, I'm sending someone else on the trip. Last thing I or Lisa want happening is me be gone when she goes into labor. that would not be fun.

Two weeks ago, we attended a Newborn class and a hospital tour. The newborn class taught us how to care and bath for Ethan when he's born. We got a lot of out of that class.. we also learned what to do and not to do...

Overall it was fun. The hospital tour was OK, we did learn that when Lisa does go into labor, it doesn't work quite the way it looks in the movies, rushing in, hospital people running to you, getting Lisa in a wheelchair and rushing her into the labor room. Apparently, when we get there, I'm to drop Lisa off at the front door and have her go wait in line to "check in" while I go park the car. ?? Sounds like I don't need to be running red lights and speeding at 100mph to get to the hospital. :)

This was the dogs the other night, I wonder if they know that their world is about to be rocked by the arrival of Ethan too! Poor Noah and Ruby won't be the center of our attention anymore. They'll still get plenty of love though.

1 month left.. maybe...

Lisa had her latest check up on Tuesday. Everything checked out ok. We did a test that determines if she's having the baby in the next two weeks. Lisa is convinced that we will have a early baby. So they did the test, nope.. no baby till at least Christmas. I still think it will be a January baby, (but wouldn't mind a very late December baby so we can get the tax credit. :) )

Ethan just needs to stay in for at least 2 more weeks, then Lisa will hit 36 weeks, then he can come whenever he wants.

Nursery is complete. Everything is ready for our little guy. Now it's just sit and wait.. Here's a pic of the nursery.

Lisa is doing good. She's now to that stage where it's hard to get comfortable, hard to get up, hard to do just about everything. She has 2 more weeks of school, then winter break. Then Lisa will be done till at least August of next year maybe longer, we'll see.

Tonight, we have a Child Newborn class, that will teach us some of the basics of having a baby and what to look for if he has any problems. Should be fun tonight.

November Check up

Happy Thanksgiving!! Lisa went to the doctor on Wednesday for her November Check up. Everything is looking good. She's now has to visit again in 2 weeks, then after that it will be every week till the baby is here. Ethan is kicking up a storm now. I think he's starting to get a little cramped in there and is starting to think about his exit plan. Nursery is almost complete. It's packed with all kinds of things from toys to clothes (Lisa can't resist buying clothes that are cute, I think the kid's got clothes till he's 18) :) She's got her hospital bag packed, and soon we'll put the car seat in the Murano to be prepared for when he decides to come. That's all to report now. Things are starting to get exciting now that it's only a month away. I'll try to take some pictures of the nursery soon.

Only a few more weeks..

Lisa entered her 32nd week. Only a few more weeks and the little guy will be making his long awaited appearance! These last few weeks have been pretty uneventful. He's kicking and moving like you wouldn't believe. It feels like little feet or knees or legs trying to push through sometimes. Lisa doesn't enjoy when he kicks her in the ribs or moves and decides to rest on her bladder. :)

Lisa had her Baby Shower this past weekend. If I get a few pictures, I'll upload them. While she was tasting baby food and trying to guess the flavor, James and I had lunch at a local deli and watched the movie "Due Date". Hopefully I won't be having to make that kind of trip back from one of our few remaining road trips. :) Lisa got a lot of great stuff at the shower, the nursery is packed right now.. not quite sure were we'll put everything!

Lisa has her next appointment next week, she'll go every two weeks till I think 36 weeks (which is really close!!!!) and then it's every week till Ethan decides to leave the all inclusive resort called Hotel Mommy. :) One bit of good news, Lisa took the gestational diabetes test a few weeks ago, and failed it. They brought her in and they said she didn't fail by much (must have been the orange juice and lucky charms cereal she ate right before the test..) So she went back last week and did the fun 3 hour test and she passed with no issues. So everything is on track.

Unexpected visit..

Yesterday we had a unexpected doctors visit. Lisa had a very bad migraine headache and was worried that the baby wasn't moving as much as before. So we went in, they listened to the heart beat, a very strong 150 bpm. normal. But he said let's do a scan just to make sure nothing is wrong. They sent us down to the triage to get another ultrasound. They hooked her up to the monitors and we then got to hear the heartbeat, but they also noticed erratic contractions! at 28 weeks, this is not good. but they gave her some water to drink. shortly after that, the contractions went away. She was dehydrated. Headache was gone and baby was very active. They hooked up the ultrasound and did a full scan and made sure everything looked good. Everything looks normal, which is good. They told her to take it easy, relax and drink water. If she's still feeling small contractions, that we should call the dr again. Basically she was dehydrated and that was causing some of the tight feelings she was having. Hopefully drinking more water will help and we'll get through these last 12 weeks without any issues and we hopefully won't panic and get worried over every little thing. :) (Hopefully the first time the kid sneezes we won't call 911) :)


Aside for spending 4 hours in the Triage yesterday, the good news was we got to see the baby again (we've lucked out with the number of ultrasounds we've had) below is a couple updated pictures of Ethan. He's getting really big now. They estimated he weighs in at about 2.5 pounds.

That's all for now.. good news is Lisa and Ethan are fine, Lisa just need to relax more and drink more water. Lisa has her regular scheduled check up next Friday, so I'll update after that appointment.

Crib

This past week I assembled the Stroller and Crib. I have been told to get used to "assembling" things as this will be a normal part of life for now on. :) Below is a few photos of the crib

The crib is one that converts to a toddler bed, then to a full size bed. So Ethan has his bed for the next 18 years. :)

Now it's time to start getting all the essentials for our little guys arrival in a few more months.

Lisa just entered her 28th week. He's kicking like crazy, and you can even sometimes feel where he's at, even just looking at her belly, it sometimes looks lopsided, so you know where he's at. Today Lisa is going for her soda pop tests. They are testing for Gestational Diabetes and other things, and she has to drink this sugary drink. (so for her to prepare, she had to take the day off from work. This pregnancy thing is tough, having to make her miss work for these tests ;) She is truly bummed. ) Her next doctors appt is on the 29th and then after that appt, I think we'll have to start going every 2 weeks. Not much longer!! I'll update after her next dr's appt.

Dr Visit Drive Through...

September 30th, Lisa had her monthly Dr's visit. We get in, they look at the charts, say all the results are normal, measure the stomach, normal, listen to Ethan's heartbeat, normal, and said.. ok thanks for stopping by, see you in a month.. All of this in about 15-20 minutes total. So guess that's good that he's normal and nothing exciting to report this month.

With the Nursery now complete, it's time to start buying stuff. Lisa started registering at a few baby stores.

We now have the two most important baby items: Crib and stroller! Once the Crib shows up (back ordered for 8 weeks, good thing we went now!) we'll get it together and the room will really start looking like a baby's room!

Ethan is really kicking and moving around now. I regularly feel him kicking away, and you can even see her stomach moving when he's kicking. Still hard to believe there is a kid in there! Equally hard to believe that Lisa is entering her 7th month! she's at 26 weeks now. only a few more weeks to go!!

Nursery

The time came to clean out the spare bedroom and make room for the Nusery. After we gave away the bed and chair, we were ready to paint. Lisa's dad came in and painted the room for us. We went with a Blue / Ivory / tan combination, adding a chair rail. Lisa's dad did a fantastic job (better than I could even think about doing)! Below is a few photos of the room

Now that the room is painted and looks fantastic, we're ready to start putting the room together. We have the dresser and bedside dresser that will also double as the changing table. Lisa has her eye on a crib that we'll hae soon and will match perfectly with the dressers.

Lisa has been doing good lately. She's in her 25th week and feeling the baby kick and move all over the place. She has a checkup with the doctors next week. A few people have asked for a photo of Lisa's baby bump. So here it is..

Seems like it's getting bigger and bigger every day. That's all for now. I'll update after her doctors appointment next week.

September Check in

Lisa just had her Monthly appointment with the doctors. This appointment they do the anatomy scan. Usually, this is where you find out if it's a boy or girl, but since we found that out last month, this was just a routine checkup on the baby to make sure everything is looking good, which it is. they said everything looked normal. While watching the sonograms on the monitor, you can see all the movement of the baby. We had zoomed in on his face and head and while she was doing measurments on this head, all of a sudden, he yawns. Very Cute.. Lisa started to cry. :) Soon after that, he got the hiccups.. again, very cute. Can't wait till January. Nothing much else to report. Lisa is doing fine, her belly seems to be getting bigger and bigger each day. She's starting to feel him move around inside, but I have yet to feel him kick. It's a....

sorry for the late post, things have been crazy at work with Training camp and getting ticket out. Last week, Lisa had been having some pain in her stomach, and was a little nervous about what's going on. So Friday we went into the doctors office and they did a exam. Said it probably wasn't anything major, but sent her down to the triage to get a ultrasound just to make sure everything looked good. So we went down and they hooked her up to the ultrasound machine. They checked everything out, and aside from one thing they saw which isn't a big deal, she and the baby are just fine. But, while they were scanning the baby to make sure he was ok... they found out its a... BOY.

We've tenativly decided on a name. Ethan Alexander Bohne. What do you guys thing? We're letting it out there and see how it sticks. If we decide after a few weeks we dont' like it, we'll come up with something else, but Ethan seems to be the name both Lisa and I seem to agree on. So that 's the big news, It's a Boy. Lisa went in on Wednesday 8/4 for a checkup, everything seems to be on track. Next appointment is in another 4 weeks.

Chicago / Milwaukee

Lisa just entered her 16th week. Our next appointment is August 4th. Aside from Lisa still feeling some effects of Morning Sickness, there is nothing really to report on the baby. The "baby bump" is starting to get bigger. Lisa has also felt a few small movements from the baby. So since there isn't much else to report, I'll share our trip from this past week. We went to Chicago and Milwaukee to see my cousin Lyndsay & Mike get married.

We started our trip off Thursday morning with a flight to Chicago.

We checked into our hotel room and then met up with Eric, a vendor I work with and had lunch at Pizzaria Due. A popular Deep Dish Pizza place.

After pizza, we walked down Michigan Ave and was thinking about going up the John Hancock building, but Lisa wasn't feeling so good, so instead we went to the Ghirradelli Chocolate shop and got a Chocolate shake for Lisa. :)

After a short rest at the hotel, we headed out to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs and Phillies play.

It was a great night. Seeing a game at Wrigley was one of the things I've always wanted to do, and it exceeded my expectations. Even Lisa had a great time and best of all, Cubs won 12-6 (yes we left early, we didn't want to have to wait for a long time for the train back to the city.

The next morning we woke up and took a Amtrak train to Milwaukee. It was Lisa's first time on a train. It was a very nice trip. There was hardly anybody on the train, it was comfortable and quiet. That night, we had the rehearsal dinner. Here we got to see the rest of the family and got to experience a Milwaukee "Fish Fry". It was a lot of fun seeing everybody and catching up on old times, though we were stalked by a couple of spiders that liked to drop down right in front of us. Lisa didn't enjoy that. :)

Saturday, I met up with Dad, Lynn, Pete and Dan & Reshma. Lisa wasn't feeling that good, so she stayed in the hotel room and relaxed. It was a good thing she did, Milwaukee had it's 4th day over 90 degrees and there was heat advisories for the area (a big deal in Milwaukee, felt like a normal day for me, with less humidity) We went to a antique place with no air conditioning, a little warm since there was no air movement. After that, we went to the Milwaukee Public Market, which was pretty neat. Downtown Milwaukee is a neat city. Lots of old old buildings.

The wedding was at the Milwaukee Museum of Art. A very neat Futuristic building. The wedding was a lot of fun and very nice. Wayne stressed over his speech but it went off without a hitch. Lyndsay and Mike were married in a nice ceremony and then the party was on. Lisa, Reshma, Dan and I hung out the whole night. It was a great time, but as usual whenever I hang out with my cousins, time just flew by. After fireworks over Lake Michigan, it was time to head back to the hotel. We had a early flight the next morning. Here's a few pictures from the wedding:

We were up really early Sunday for a 7:30am flight. Aside from 2 large annoying women sitting behind us, our flight home was good. Got home and slept the rest of the day. That was our trip to Chicago and Milwaukee. It was a fun time. This is probably Lisa's last trip till after the baby is born. We're looking forward to the next Dr's appt. I think we might find out if it's a boy or girl. Then the great name debate begins. :) till next time..

Jumping Bean

Yesterday, July 8th, we had our next doctors visit. This visit they did some measurements on the baby's spine to test for birth defects, etc.. Basically just a check to make sure baby is doing good. This allowed us to get a nice long look at baby. It's a mover and a shaker. Once the ultrasound tech turned on the picture, you see little baby bohne just moving around, it liked to kick off one side of the womb and bounce around. Here's a few pictures:

Baby decided to turn towards the ultrasound and say hi (or say, quit bothering me in here) :)

The other great thing about this visit is we got to hear the heart beat for the first time. It was pretty amazing to hear the heart pumping away. 162 beats per minute which is normal for this time.

The tech also wanted to see if they could see any signs of sex of the baby. She looked, but couldn't tell anything at this time. I'm sure the next ultrasound we have, we'll be able to call it a he or a she.

The tech did all her measurments and said the baby is looking good.

After the ultrasound, we talked to one of the nurses and aside from Lisa coming off of morning sickness, everything is progressing normally. Our next visit is on August 4th.

We have a busy next couple weeks, so I'll try to update this before our next doctors visit. Right now there isn't too much to talk about, but once it starts getting closer to the due date, there will probably be daily updates, and then after the baby is born, I'll try to maintain weekly updates. till next time..

We're having a baby!!

May 13th started like any other day, busy day at work. then about 3:30pm I got a phone call from Lisa. She just took a pregnancy test and it showed 2 lines! She thinks she's pregant. I get home and look at the "stick" looks like 2 lines, but one of kind of light. We go out and get one of the digital ones that say pregnant or not pregnant so we are 100% clear of the result. Lisa takes the test and it says...

Lisa and I were really excited when we saw this. But we still wanted to get a doctors confirmation, so Lisa booked a appt with her primary care doctor the next day and sure enough, she confirmed that she was pregnant!

That weekend we started telling family and close friends the good news. Obviously everybody was excited. It was a little bitter sweet for me since we got this news less than a month after Mom passed away. Of course one thought I had as soon as I heard the news, was that we had a little extra help up above. Knowing her, I'm sure she got up there and that was her first demand. :) If it's a boy, then we'll really know she had some influence. ;)

May 28th, we had a appointment with the OBGYN for Lisa's first baby doctor visit. After a initial talk and exam, he took us into the ultrasound room to "take a look" and sure enough, faintly, you could see a little flash on the screen. The baby's heartbeat! He scheduled us for the first "real" ultrasound on June 1st. On June 1st, they zoomed in and this is what we saw..

Baby's heartbeat was beating away, and our tadpole was growing. :) At this point, Lisa was feeling a little depressed. She was excited to be pregnant, but wasn't "feeling" pregnant. I told her she would be regretting those comments. :) Sure enough at week 8, Lisa started feeling morning sickness. A few visits to the bathroom, and Lisa was eating her words (or throwing them up)



June 18th was our next visit with the baby doctor. He told Lisa everything is looking good and normal. He decided to do another ultrasound, and this time, baby looked more like a baby. He decided to hold the ultrasound still for a minute and said maybe we'll see the baby move. Sure enough, baby started kicking it's tiny legs and started wiggling around. Pretty amazing to see that and know that that's growing inside Lisa. here's the latest ultrasound picture

Lisa is now in her 12th week, finishing up the 1st Trimester. She's still feeling a little bit sick, but seems like that's on the downswing. We have another Doctors appt on July 13th where they will do a ultrasound and do some neck measurments and tests. So we're looking forward to seeing more pictures of baby Bohne. This blog will be our "Baby Book" for Lisa's pregnancy and for family and friends to keep to date on what's going on.
